Drop-in

The drop-in, situated in the so-called city centre,  is a safe place for vulnerable adults , most of which are homeless. The centre provides food and drink, warmth and an opportunity to talk.

In this centre I bear witness to a failure of humanity. An imprisonment of addiction and homelessness. This newspaper shows the effects of a systematic societal breakdown. A museum of disconnection, displacement, neglect, and death.

For me as a photographer this is an initial visual acknowledgement, one that shows the bleak reality of the situation. With that said I don’t pretend to understand the full extent of these individual’s circumstances. Nor do I pretend to have the ability to empathise with their livelihood, this is just an attempt to capture this reality through photographs.
